Overview

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Director to lead AML/CFT compliance and investor services across the Asia Pacific region. This newly created position, based in Singapore, will be responsible for overseeing AML/CFT, transfer agency (TA), and investor services operations, managing regional teams across multiple APAC jurisdictions. The role reports directly to the Regional Head of Fund Services – Asia Pacific.

The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in AML, KYC, and TA processes for open-ended hedge funds, ensuring regulatory compliance in Singapore, the Cayman Islands, and other relevant jurisdictions. They will also be instrumental in advancing strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency and develop a regional hub model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight - Ensure policies, procedures, and operations across the region are aligned with applicable regulations and internal standards; serve as the escalation point for complex compliance and operational issues; monitor regulatory developments and implement necessary changes to remain compliant and competitive; proactively manage risks associated with AML/CFT and investor services activities; lead and mentor regional teams to deliver AML/CFT and investor services initiatives effectively; provide ongoing training and support to promote team development and continuous improvement; foster a collaborative, inclusive, and performance-driven culture.
  • Operational Excellence & Coordination - Collaborate with internal teams to standardize procedures and implement best practices; lead the rollout of a regional hub model with Singapore as the central base, coordinating efforts across jurisdictions; identify and address operational inefficiencies, ensuring streamlined and robust service delivery.
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management - Act as the key contact for client escalations, offering expert guidance on AML/KYC and TA-related issues; build and sustain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for service expansion and upselling; represent the firm in meetings with global and regional stakeholders.
  • Strategic Projects & Initiatives - Drive the separation of investor services from fund accounting to create specialized and focused teams; oversee the growth and development of offshore teams for AML/KYC checks and other operational support; support the creation of a scalable and sustainable regional operating model.
Key Requirements
  • Over 10 years of experience in AML/CFT compliance, investor services, and transfer agency operations within financial services.
  • Proven track record of managing regional teams across multiple jurisdictions and delivering on strategic initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks including MAS regulations, VCC Act, Cayman Private Funds Act, and Mutual Funds Act.
  • In-depth understanding of TA processes for open-ended hedge funds, including subscription and redemption workflows.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with large fund administrators or financial institutions is highly preferred.
