The Data Sales Relationship Manager is responsible for generating new sales within Asia and achieving set sales targets. This will be accomplished within the standards and procedures set out as part of the sales position. This role will work as part of the broader Data Group team with the joint aim of increasing revenue, customer retention, relationship building and generating new data contribution. It will also work with other teams within the business both in Asia and across the UK and US.
The role provides an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing sales team within MarketAxess, uniquely positioned in the Fixed Income data marketplace, owning a significant amount of proprietary data which is in demand from both buy-side and dealer clients.
What You’ll Help Take Us There- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the market and MarketAxess offerings, anticipate customer needs, and use discretion to advise customers
- Maintain customer relationships and be the subject matter expert in all MarketAxess product segments to achieve trading volume targets and increase market penetration
- Sell and upsell MarketAxess trading capabilities and develop long-term strategy by setting the tactical direction for current and potential customers within individual accounts, focusing on data solutions
- Actively build a new business pipeline, call on customers and develop relationships at multiple levels across the customer organization
- Qualify customer interest, conduct demos, close opportunities, and maintain the fluency of the user base
- Leverage customer and industry intel to effectively communicate product requirements to Product Specialists/Developers for system enhancements, functionality, and usability
- Analyze large sets of data to identify market trends, tradable patterns, and leading indicators to advise current and prospective customers
- Propose timelines, forecasts, and expectations to proactively influence the business line’s goals and budget
- Mentor and assist in the development of all junior employees, promoting firm values across the team
- Own relevant initiatives and be responsible for driving initiatives and increasing knowledge and engagement across the team
- Develop executive level presentations and metrics to communicate team strategy, accomplishments and goals
- Represent the business in responding to trading strategies, test procedures and other projects
- Entertain customers during and after business hours as needed
- 3+ years’ of relevant sales experience
- Able to demonstrate success in achieving set sales targets within specified timelines
- Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, and possess strong presentation skills to ensure quality service to a diverse range of clients
- Experience and understanding of data sales
- Understanding of the fixed income markets, particularly for the Asian region and who the players are within the credit markets
- Familiarity with the different regulatory regimes in the APAC region to ensure compliance – i.e., soliciting business in some APAC jurisdictions is prohibited
- Proven track record as an effective team player in the region and working remotely
- Be prepared to travel within the geographical locations of allocated accounts and display strong flexibility conducive to working in a busy sales environment
- Proven track record of confident communication with all levels of customer seniority
- Management and influencing skills, particularly across client accounts, teams and locations
- Experience of working with contact databases including Salesforce.com
- Some financial market experience and knowledge with a good understanding of fixed income
- Possesses established relationships with senior contacts within the European fixed income community
- Self-motivated
