Overview

Manager (Public & Digital Communications) role at Ministry of Defence of Singapore. The position involves planning and executing public and digital communication efforts to support MINDEF/SAF’s objectives and to preserve and strengthen public trust in national defence, National Service (NS) and the SAF.

What The Role Is

You plan and execute public and digital communication efforts in support of MINDEF/Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)’s communication objectives, principally to preserve and strengthen public trust and confidence in national defence, National Service (NS) and the SAF.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Formulate publicity plans for mainstream and social media
  • Work closely with the media on feature stories and draft replies to forum letters and media queries
  • Develop plans for local and international media engagement
  • Manage public communication of consequence management involving incidents and unplanned events to maintain public confidence in MINDEF/SAF
Challenge
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to understand policy and operational issues, then develop effective communication strategies that meet organisational objectives in a timely manner
What We Are Looking For
  • Education in Communication Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Digital Media or Information Science is preferred
  • Strong English proficiency
  • Additional language skills (Mandarin/Malay/Tamil) are useful
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Keen interest in Singapore’s media, political, defence and security developments; good understanding of Singapore’s media landscape; comfortable working with policy makers and staff departments
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented
  • Adaptability to work odd hours on very short notice
  • Applicants with no experience may apply

You may be required to travel overseas for work. Appointment will be commensurate with your experience.
