Job Summary

Naval Defence System division, ST Engineering Mission Software and Service, product portfolio includes Data Distribution Units (DDUs), Combat Management System (CMS), and other mission-critical naval electronics. We are seeking a driven and experienced Business Manager to lead our division commercial operations, expand our market presence, and drive sustainable growth. The Business Manager will be responsible for overseeing the commercial strategy of the division. This includes sales management, channel development, customer relationships, market analysis, and aligning business objectives with product teams. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of naval electronics markets, regulatory frameworks (e.g., IMO, SOLAS, IEC standards), and customer dynamics in both the commercial and defence domain as well as marine technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve division goals.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in the naval electronics market.
  • Build and manage a global network of customers, distributors, and OEM partners.
  • Lead contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and commercial agreements.
  • Collaborate with the product teams to ensure solutions meet market and regulatory needs.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform business strategy.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and key client meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant marine equipment certifications and standards (e.g., IEC 60945, 61162, DNV Type Approval).
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Maritime Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or product management within the maritime or marine electronics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial shipping, navigation and communication systems, and IMO/SOLAS regulatory environments.
  • Proven track record of managing complex sales cycles and strategic accounts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with maritime equipment manufacturers or system integrators.
  • Familiarity with type approval and marine certification processes (e.g., DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register).
  • Technical background in marine electronics or systems engineering.
