STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Population Health Management (PHM) Directorate supports clinical management to be more systematic and targeted, ensuring NHG is informed by clinical, operational, and demographic data. The goal is to optimize resource deployment across organizations to improve health outcomes, system planning, and care delivery with a focus on population health, value, and equity.
Our role is to facilitate change at the population, provider, place, and resident levels by addressing clinical, social, environmental, and behavioral health determinants to add 15 million health years for residents.
The Population Health Management and Value Directorate acts as an enabler by developing infrastructure and building capabilities within NHG to support this transformation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role involves evaluating the economic impact of population health programs through research and implementation. The incumbent will lead projects in health economics, early health program assessment, and medical innovation development, including costing methodologies and empirical research in collaboration with clinicians, data analysts, and researchers. The role supports the development of patient financing models and assesses financial implications of interventions and resource allocation within NHG.
The post holder will support the team in:
- Research and Economic Modelling: Collaborate with clinicians, finance staff, and researchers to analyze healthcare costs, resource allocation, and intervention impacts using economic models.
- Financial Planning and Resource Allocation: Evaluate and provide insights on the effectiveness of programs and resource distribution to improve health outcomes.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Review healthcare and economic literature on health economic frameworks relevant to NHG's evaluations.
- Provide guidance on economic evaluations, including cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses, to stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Health Economics or related quantitative fields such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Technology Assessment, or Public Health.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in health systems evaluation research.
- Knowledge of economic evaluation concepts and causal inference.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis using a preferred statistical software.
- Experience with quantitative research methods such as decision modeling, longitudinal data analysis, linked health records, preference elicitation, or microsimulation is preferred.
- Knowledge of Python, R, STATA, SAS, or EPIC is advantageous.
- Understanding data structure, granularity, and relationships.
- Strong analytical, written, and communication skills.
- Effective time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
- Curiosity and capacity to manage complex tasks.
