Role purpose

Commercial & Business Development Director – Offshore

To lead the commercial and business development strategy for V.Offshore’s Floater (FPSO/FSO) and Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) ship management businesses worldwide. The role reports to the Offshore MD and collaborates with the General Manager and Operations Directors to secure new contracts, expand market presence, and maximise the value of existing accounts. The role operates under the strategic direction of the V.Offshore MD to ensure global coverage and drive sustainable revenue growth across all regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Global Business Development & Market Expansion: Develop and execute a global BD strategy covering Floater and OSV ship management markets; support regional pursuits; identify, pursue, and secure new client contracts with oil majors, independents, asset owners, and charterers; build and maintain a robust global opportunity pipeline; represent V.Offshore at major industry events and client meetings internationally.
  • Commercial Leadership & Bid Management: Lead commercial negotiations and pricing strategies; register with new clients as approved service provider/vendor; pursue ITTs globally for new builds, conversions, and operations of Offshore assets; coordinate high-quality proposals and tender responses; implement and monitor a consistent commercial operating model; ensure commercial commitments are operationally deliverable.
  • Account Growth & Retention: Develop Customer Success Plans for major accounts; lead regular business reviews with key clients; drive cross-selling of services; manage service recovery and attrition globally; identify new services to grow the business.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategic Insight: Maintain market intelligence on global Floater and OSV sectors; provide actionable insights to the MD, GM, and Operations Directors; collaborate on innovation and product development initiatives.
  • People & Capability Development: Coach and mentor commercial teams across regions; foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

Essential
  • 5+ years’ senior commercial or BD leadership experience in the offshore oil & gas marine sector, with substantial exposure to FPSO/FSO and OSV markets.
  • Proven track record of securing major ship management or O&M contracts globally, preferably across multiple regions.
  • Strong international network with oil majors, independents, and asset owners.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and managing global commercial strategies.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, pricing, and commercial risk management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, balancing multiple reporting relationships.
  • Strong financial literacy with the ability to translate commercial strategies into revenue growth.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively worldwide.
Desirable
  • Prior experience in both commercial and operational roles within ship management.
  • Knowledge of emerging digital and analytics tools for vessel performance monitoring and client reporting.
  • Experience in JV or strategic partnership development in the offshore marine sector.
  • Additional language skills relevant to key offshore markets (e.g., Arabic, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Malay).
