Employee Relations Manager, Asia – Education group
Our client is a leading education group and is looking for an Employee Relations Manager, Asia to join their office in Singapore.
Responsibilities- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership/management on all matters related to employee relations.
- Promote consistent ER practices across various schools and countries.
- Lead or oversee complex and sensitive casework, including conduct, grievances, capabilities, and discrimination.
- Ensure that all ER issues are handled consistently, lawfully, and in alignment with company values.
- Support school leaders in conducting thorough and fair investigations, ensuring proper documentation and outcomes.
- Provide strategic and hands-on support for employee and industrial relations, including engagement with unions and governmental bodies in labour-focused countries across Asia.
- Assist in reviewing and standardizing ER-related policies, such as disciplinary, grievance, and performance policies.
- Ensure all policies comply with local employment legislation in each country of operation.
- Coach and empower leaders and HR teams to effectively handle ER matters.
- Design and deliver training sessions on topics such as managing difficult conversations, conducting fair investigations, and promoting dignity at work.
- Monitor ER themes and trends to identify potential risks or areas of concern, and recommend proactive strategies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in HR or ER, ideally with regional exposure.
- Strong knowledge in employment law and ER practice across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
- Skilled in coaching senior leaders and building capability in line managers.
- Excellent judgement, with the ability to balance legal risk, organisational values, and cultural nuance.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex ER cases end-to-end.
- Experience working in international education or similarly people-intensive, values-driven sectors.
- Familiarity with collective consultation, safeguarding issues, or regulatory compliance.
