About the role

Rio Tinto Commercial is the primary interface with our markets, customers and suppliers – local regional and global, reaching horizontally across product groups and vertically from mine to market. As part of the Sell Senior Leadership Team and the Steel Decarb Leadership Team, you will contribute to shaping the people strategy and partner directly with Head of Sales & Marketing to deliver people priorities aligned with Commercial business direction. You will partner closely with MDs and GMs in support of a globally diverse team. In addition, as part of the HR business partner team for Commercial, you will lead and/or participate in critical HR projects for global Commercial portfolio. Reporting to the VP People, Commercial, you will:

·Forge strategic partnerships with the Head of Sales & Marketing and their leadership teams to craft the organization’s people strategy, aligning it closely with business objectives.

·Assume responsibility as the custodian and delivery owner of the organization’s people plan, overseeing priorities, initiatives, and HR solutions both strategically and operationally.

·Co-lead change management efforts in implementing the organization’s vision, mission, and structural changes, driving capability transformation programs in collaboration with key stakeholders.

·Act as a trusted advisor, providing coaching, challenging perspectives, and offering HR expertise and insights to leaders to optimize decision-making and drive organizational effectiveness.

·Collaborate with leaders to enhance Commercial’s business performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, building capabilities, and driving employee engagement initiatives.

·Conduct thorough monitoring, reporting, and analysis of HR data and trends to proactively identify gaps and opportunities, developing strategic interventions to address them.

·Work closely with various HR teams to tailor HR solutions to meet the specific needs of the Commercial function, ensuring alignment with overall organizational objectives.

·Engage actively as a member of the RT/Commercial HR community, contributing to ongoing innovation and improvement of HR processes, systems, and service delivery.

·Take the lead on critical projects alongside colleagues in specialized areas and People Experiences, focusing on building commercial capabilities and implementing performance and rewards frameworks aligned with organizational goals.

What you will need for the role

To succeed in this role, you will have:

·Strong experience and track record in effective HR business partnering to senior leaders in a global organisation

·Proven track record of driving change and transformation at a large scale.

·Strong business and commercial acumen, able to diagnose and analyse issues and drive appropriate solutions with measurable impacts

·Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including collaborating across large, matrix structures to achieve optimal outcomes

·Sound knowledge and application of more than one of the following disciplines: organisational design, change management, capability development, talent development, rewards or culture change.

·Strong mindset and behaviours of team player in a highly collaborative, diverse & matrix environment

·Have experience / exposure to working across different cultures, and are able drive engagement and high performance collaboration across different culture settings and time zones
