The Fund Tax and Market Access team sits within the Fund Platform which is part of Investment Operations. The team is a centre of operational tax expertise for the European and Asian business and is primarily responsible for the Luxembourg, Australian, Japanese and UK Funds of Capital Group in addition to supporting separate accounts. The team operates a flexible structure and functions by way of multiple pods under to core areas of responsibility being product tax and operational tax. As a Lead Tax Analyst you will be a member of several functionally aligned pods (based on current business needs) which include tax regulation impact analysis/implementation and consultancy, automatic exchange of information, distributions, regulatory tax reporting and investor, fund, and portfolio taxes. Responsibilities are broad and range from planning, oversight, consultancy, governance, regulatory analysis, and compliance. You will play a key role as a technical subject matter expert within your pod and will provide guidance to others. You are encouraged to ask and answer questions, contribute to discussions, and help others to share their perspective. As part of your everyday work, you will share responsibility for identifying and mitigating regulatory and operational risks, developing strong stakeholder relationships, and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and automated solutions.

You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (tax, business, law, accounting, finance economics etc). You have a significant amount of industry experience in a related or relevant role. Professional tax or legal qualification a plus (e.g., tax lawyer or qualified accountant having specialized in tax). You have the interest and ability to learn the investment management industry as it relates to tax regulations, investment mandates, investment vehicle structures, investment operations, third party providers, competitive landscape, reporting and regulatory environment. You have proven analytical skills, problem solving ability, and a control mentality paired with meticulous attention to detail. You can lead and/or participate in projects and team/department initiatives. You enjoy consulting with other departments and provide guidance on operational issues and technical questions. You are self-motivated and a proactive team player who takes ownership and accountability of initiatives, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues for managers/others. Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving routine matters. Demonstrates the ability to identify, assess, respond to, and escalate risks or potential risks encountered through day-to-day activities. Fluent written and spoken English (Japanese is a plus).“I can Develop my skillset”
The role offers the opportunity to demonstrate and develop knowledge of portfolio, fund, and investor level tax across numerous tax regimes and product ranges especially in Australia, Japan and Luxembourg. You will have the opportunity to work, not only with the various tax teams across Capital Group but across business functions, with particular focus on operational functions.
You will be given the opportunity to understand the various products of Capital Group, gain an in-depth knowledge of financial services sector, building of technical product and tax knowledge, project management, exposure to senior management across the firm, and ability to develop soft personal skills by managing various stakeholders both internal and external.
