The Singapore Quantitative Biosciences Department is currently seeking a Scientist with strong experience in Cell Biology and Translational iPSC-based model development to join the Target Biology and Screening group at the Singapore site. The role requires a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientist who will be involved in establishing and characterizing complex iPSC-derived culture systems and advancing the development of translational models for bench-to-clinic translation. Other responsibilities of this role include providing technical support in designing and implementing various molecular and cellular biology experimental approaches for target validation and mechanisms of action, as well as overseeing general laboratory and site-related duties.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- With supervision and training, establish and characterize complex iPSC-derived cultures. Execute cell-based assays using iPSC-derived cultures, primary or established cell-lines.
- Contribute to the company Translational model research strategy and align with research division drug discovery approaches and organizational objectives.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated instruments of assigned technology platforms, such as immunoassays, flow cytometers, confocal microscope, genomic assays and mass spectrometry.
- Retain up-to-date knowledge of the key therapeutic area biology, analytical techniques, and cutting-edge technologies. Conduct literature searches and provide reviews as required to support priority projects, demonstrating good communication skills.
- Work collaboratively on company research projects with matrix teams within the department and other cross functional teams at research division to enable the scientific advancement of projects under scientific and administrative direction.
- Assist the group in inventory management, documentation for environment, health and safety, biological materials, risk assessments, management of change documentation, international shipping, and capital equipment purchases and maintenance.
- Help to optimize technology to support scientific/business processes. Seek opportunities and provide recommendations to enhance technology and support systems and adopt a continuous improvement approach to all lab-based activities to improve safety, quality, speed, efficiency and costs.
- Ensure reliable documentation of experiments and results in electronic notebooks and other documents in compliance with company policies and project needs.
- Proactively plan and execute own career development strategy with help of manager to advance technical and functional knowledge to design experiments/projects that contribute to overall direction of department/discipline.
- Demonstrate consistent leadership behaviors. Ensure all activities comply with appropriate health and safety legislation, company codes of practice and local rules. Promote a culture of safety and compliance among reports and colleagues.
**WHAT YOU MUST HAVE**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- MSc or BSc in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences or Life Science related discipline including Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology or related fields with at least three years of relevant research experience with good track record.
- Proficient in a wide range of cell-based assay platforms, as well as biochemical and molecular assay techniques.
- Experience with stem cell-derived cultures and/or organoid systems is highly desirable, along with some familiarity in transcriptomics and/or proteomics platforms.
- Strong data analytical skills are essential.
- A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
