**Job description**:
Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies.

Nuevocor’s Singapore R&D site is looking for a highly motivated scientist to join the team. You will be joining a close-knit team. You may be given opportunities to lead projects of your own, where you will liaise closely with other scientists and direct research associates.

**Responsibilities**
- Maintain and expand induced pluripotent stem cells and derivatives
- Differentiate iPSCs towards relevant lineages such as cardiomyocytes
- Produce and maintain iPSC-derived 3D organoids and engineered tissues
- Develop new and/or improved expansion and differentiation protocols
- Develop new and/or improved methods to genetically engineer iPSC cells and derivatives
- Use iPSCs and derivatives to identify and validate novel cardiomyopathy drug targets
- Develop assays and screening platforms using iPSC cell lines and 3D organoids
- Work closely with academic collaborators on iPSC technologies
- Keep abreast of relevant technological developments in academic and commercial space
- Design, execute and troubleshoot experiments
- Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
- Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
- Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally

**Required qualifications**
- PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology or related fields, or possess extensive experience with iPSCs / organoid systems
- Deep experience with pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation protocols is strongly preferred; at the minimum, expertise in mammalian cell culture and some experience with iPSC culture is expected
- Experience with development and maintenance of organoids and engineered tissue is an advantage
- Strong understanding of and experience in cell and molecular biology including molecular cloning techniques, primary and immortalized cell culture, transfection, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and protein assays
