**What’s the role?**
The role provides core central competence in support of short-term Base Chemicals market analysis across Shell Oil Trading and Supply.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering regular short term global demand, supply and pricing outlook for Base Chemicals and their associated feedstocks.
- Identifying underlying market drivers for driving price formation for Base Chemicals and their associated feedstocks globally, taking into detailed consideration the links between Oil Refining and Base Chemical Manufacturing.
- Generating deep analytical insights and identifying potential market dislocations arising from large changes in the Base Chemicals markets to aid formation of competitively advantaged trading convictions.
- Leading an IT team to ingest and delivering information digitally to provide a “IT Product” which can be disseminated on demand at high frequency in an efficient and timely manner.
- Engaging professionally and proactively with fellow market analysts, traders, and myriad of stakeholders at the working and leadership levels across the Trading & Supply organization and other functions. This will include defining and delivering analysis requirements, ensuring clear information flow and communication across the regional and global analyst and trader communities, and building formal and informal networks to bring better business outcome.
**What we need from you**
**Academic qualification**
- BSc degree in Engineering (e.g. Chemical) or Pure Sciences
**Work experience**
- In-depth technical and/or optimization background for Base Chemicals and associated feedstocks
- Strong understanding of Oil Refining and Base Chemicals Manufacturing interface
- In-depth knowledge of Excel, Power BI and Database
- Working knowledge of Agile Working Methodology and IT technology for data ingestion and consumption
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capability
