Underwriter, Automation

**Purpose of the role**

The responsibility of an Underwriter within UnderwriteMe is to deliver auto-underwriting solutions to our clients.

The post-holder will be working closely with Project Management and Business Analyst counterparts in the UnderwriteMe team to deliver automation solutions.

The role includes delivering strategic underwriting automation advice, assisting to write rules for implementations and change requests, as well as using data to deliver insights to our clients.

**Responsibilities**:
60% - Responsible for the successful implementation of the automated underwriting system in Asia through close collaboration with the whole UnderwriteMe team. Key responsibilities include:

- Automation projects (implementations):

- involvement in entire project cycle, including demonstration, planning, rules development, post-delivery consulting and training
- underwriting oversight and adding value in the journey of shaping the final ruleset
- active participation in the marketing of the UnderwriteMe proposition
- working closely with clients to ensure access to “best practice” rules enhancements and continuously maximising operational efficiencies and straight-through-processing (STP) rates
- assist and support client through training or enquiry management to enable eventual client ownership of their ruleset
- ongoing improvement and maintenance of the Initial Ruleset Asia (IRA), a “fit-for-purpose” base ruleset for Asia
- mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues on underwriting automation
- Rule development:

- achieve high proficiency in rule building/editing on UnderwriteMe; teaching and knowledge-sharing with colleagues and clients on development practices
- timely and accurate delivery of client implementation/change requests
- ensure clear and accurate documentation of requests and changes

25% - Create and Deliver data insights to our clients - working closely with the data team in order to add value to our relationship with clients
- Identify areas of improvement in STP/other key metrics so that our solution continues to improve results for our customers

15% - Contribute to other projects including the use of new products and how they can add value to our clients

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Minimum of 4 years’ underwriting experience of life & disability underwriting in the Life Insusrance sector
- Experience with Auto-underwriting systems, rules engines and confident in leading projects and ensuring key project milestones are met on time
- Experience handling underwriting automation in an Asian market(s) - Culture, legislation, regulations, commercial practices
- Ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders (internal and external).
- Claims experience will be an advantage
- Progression towards the ALU/ACII Underwriting diploma will be an advantage
