Assistant Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Assistant Manager/Manager with a strong passion for science and Singapore to be part of our team. This role will primarily support the good governance and timely management of key research programmes (such as Singapore Food Story R&D programme). In addition, the role will support the development and execution of strategies to build a broad base of industry-relevant R&D programmes, capabilities and infrastructure.
**Responsibilities**:
**Programme Management**: Ensure good governance and knowledge management as a custodian of public funding, and effective management of research funding programmes (e.g. Singapore Food Story R&D programme) for Singapore institutes and research performer. This includes ensuring efficient project tracking and timely delivery of project milestones, and judious grant management in compliance with relevant grant rules and guidelines.
**Programme Development**: Support the development and execution of strategies to build a broad base of industry-relevant R&D programmes, capabilities and infrastructure. This includes embarking on technology foresighting, roadmapping exercises and evaluation of new R&D programmes to support industry and public sector needs.
Working closely with A*STAR and Singapore's research units to understand their capabilities and relevance to the public agencies and the industry.
Support the development and management of A*STAR's relationships with public sector agencies, companies and negotiate win-win collaborative terms.
Support the fostering of long-term R&D partnerships with public agencies, local small medium enterprises, startups, multinational companies and institutes of higher learning to create an end-to-end innovation and vibrant R&D ecosystem for Singapore.
**Job Requirements**:
Degree or postgraduate degree in Food & Nutrition, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in public sector agency, industry R&D and/or in a science-based role in industry
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Excellent organising, planning and analytical skills
Thrives in complex situations involving multiple stakeholders
Is independent and a strong team player
Willingness to learn, with adaptability and flexibility to take on required/necessary tasks beyond the job description
