You will be leading a team that assesses the feasibility of deploying new and emerging energy technologies in Singapore, with the objective of enhancing our
understanding of possible options.
In fulfilling your responsibilities, you will need to work with consultants, academia, government agencies and technology vendors. You will also be required to communicate EMA's position and plans on energy technologies clearly to stakeholders.
**Assess feasibility of deploying new and emerging energy technologies in Singapore.**
- Lead a team of engineers and analysts to:
- Conduct techno-economic studies on various energy technologies. The scope includes areas such as nuclear fusion, deep geothermal systems, wind and marine power generation technologies, advanced energy storage systems and grid technologies.
- Assess the feasibility, risks, and benefits of implementing these energy technologies. Integrate findings into recommendations to shape policies, deployment plans and potential demonstration projects.
- Develop and implement deployment plans for emerging technologies of interest that are assessed to be feasible, including plans for industry, R&D, regulations and human resource development.
- Develop tools, models and frameworks to
(1) estimate the costs and benefits of emerging technologies and
(2) prioritise technologies of interest.
- Forecast development and cost trajectories of technologies of interest, and recommend appropriate signposting plans.
**Team management.**
- Manage overall operations, budget and welfare of the team. This includes planning and allocating resources to fulfil the team’s goals efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee and supervise teammates to ensure projects are delivered within budget, on schedule and of high standards. Plan, implement and maintain work processes that enable the optimum performance of the team.
- Motivate teammates and develop the team’s capabilities. This includes
(1) developing and communicating professional career development and training plans for teammates,
(2) setting clear goals and expectations,
(3) engaging, coaching, guiding and providing constructive feedback to encourage personal and professional growth,
(4) fostering strong teamwork among teammates and
(5) translating management directives and visions into actionable tasks for the team.
**Stakeholder engagement and communications.**
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders within the energy sector, such as industry, international organisations, academia and consultants to perform environmental, safety, security, financing, legal, regulatory and policy analyses for various energy technologies. Your work will also require close coordination with a range of local and foreign government agencies to identify policy implications and make policy recommendations.
- Ensure that EMA’s position on various energy technologies are communicated clearly and accurately to our stakeholders. This involves the ability to communicate complex technical issues in a manner that is easily understood by the general public.
- Applicants should have at least seven years of working and team leadership experience. Relevant working experience in the power sector would be an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, coordination and communication (written and verbal) skills are critical for this position.
