Roles & Responsibilities

Chemical Biology group at EDDC is looking for a highly motivated research fellow to drive the drug discovery projects. The research fellow will lead the drug discovery projects by synthesizing compounds to perturb protein-protein interaction and setting up biophysical assay to characterize protein-compound interaction. The research fellow will support his/her supervisor and scientific project leader to achieve project goals within a timeline.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the team to synthesize compounds for targeting protein-protein interaction (PPI)
- Design and develop biophysical assays to characterize protein-ligand and protein-compound interactions
- Collaborate with the macrocyclic peptide team, structural biologists to biologists to develop PPI inhibitors
- Perform QC of in-house synthesized and purchased compounds
- Able to record, analyze and present the experimental data
- Maintain a safe, clean laboratory and clean work area
- Willing to learn new technologies

**Qualifications**:

- Ph.D. degree in Chemical Biology, Chemistry or related areas with at least two years working experience in academia or industry
- Experience in organic chemistry and compound synthesize that targeting protein-protein interaction (PPI)
- Experience in biophysical assays such as DSF, ITC, and Fluorescence Polarization to characterize protein-ligand interactions
- Experience in protein or compound labeling techniques, such as 19F, fluorophore labeling
- Experience in analytical methods such as HPLC & NMR
- Familiar with structural biology, fragment-based/computational-based drug design
- Familiar with commonly used PRISM, PYMOL and MNOVA software in data analysis and report
- Familiar with biochemistry and able to handle protein samples
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as team to achieve a goal
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
