The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre based in Duke-NUS Medical School. Drawing on its interdisciplinary expertise and collaborations across medical, social, psychological, economic and environmental perspectives, CARE conducts leading-edge research on the medical and social determinants of successful ageing.

CARE is a vibrant workplace with individuals from diverse academic and personal backgrounds and with a range of skills and interests. CARE has an opening for a Research Fellow or Senior Research Associate with expertise and experience in qualitative research.

Possess a PhD or equivalent certificate in Sociology/Anthropology with specialization in gerontology, medical/public health.Minimum 5 years of qualitative fieldwork experience in local research or similar settings with at least 2 years of professional experience in qualitative research initiatives (e.g. participatory action research, ethnography, evaluation studies, culture-centered approach). Have deep understanding of local ageing, policy and/or health contexts.Demonstrated ability to lead a research team and work with persons from different walks of life and ages.Experience in and versatility across different qualitative data collection methods and analyses (e.g. discourse analysis, grounded theory, phenomenological analysis, narrative inquiry, constructivist, thick description, reflexivity/ standpoint, political economic analysis). Experience in NVIVO 11/12 qualitative analysis software. Demonstrated teaching abilities at workshops for community and healthcare stakeholders.Minimum 1 publication in a peer-reviewed journal article related to gerontological issues. Minimum 2 local oral presentations and 1 international oral presentation on ageing issue.Show ethical considerations and sensitivities working with older adults and/or vulnerable populations. Have interest in conducting both evaluation and exploratory research that impact policies and programmes relevant to population ageing. Advocate for qualitative research methods and values the importance of enhancing qualitative research capabilities in the age/healthcare sector.
