Research Support Centre (RSC) is a unit of A*STAR housed in the Biomedical Research Council that manages Singapore’s largest e-commerce portal for scientific services and laboratory consumables.
RSC’s e-shopfront enables on-demand access to advanced equipment and scientific services from more than 30 public and private technology platforms managed by various expertise in genomics, immunology, bioimaging and more. Besides A*STAR, RSC also empowers the academic institutions and various industries by promoting an open network to this suite of technology platforms to the research community.
RSC partnered with over 60 qualified suppliers to provide access to more than 3,000 laboratory consumables and benchtop laboratory equipment at the web-store. Support services such as glassware washing, autoclave & biohazard handling are available as well.
Consumables Planner
This role reports into the Business Development Manager and is responsible for all forecasting and planning activities associated with research consumables and reagents business of the Research Support Centre (RSC). The planner creates and maintains forecast models for our customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from customers (across multiple A*STAR Research Institutes), marketing, consumable vendors, and other sources to work with supply management team. The Consumables Planner will work closely and integrate with teams across RSC specifically the Supply Management team and the Logistics Supply Store team and will have regular engagement with end-point customers.
**Responsibilities**:
Develop consumables demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation as part of a demand planning function.
Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
Interact with customers (A*STAR and external users) to understand their purchasing demands and utilize a collaborative and consensus approach to ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
Use and maintain forecasting reports and present to reporting officer and other cross functional leaders.
Conduct market research (RFI) prior to RFQ/RFP/ITT and provide input to the cross functional team i.e. supply management and logistics team in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-out.
Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning.
Track, publish and review Demand Planning KPIs.
Generate quotations to external users (if necessary).
Manage RSC’s consumables sales revenue
**Qualifications**:
At least Diploma or Bachelor in Business Administration or related fields
Preferably with at least 2-3 years’ experience in planning, forecasting or analysis in consumables business
Able to manage inventories which involves source, plan, forecast, replenish, manage inventory holding cost & inventory reconciliation
Effective communicator, collaborator and team player
Solid analytical and problem solving skills, strong follow-up, organization and detail oriented
Flexible and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Proactive, ability to understand process maps and drive process improvements that adds value to the business
