Staff Packaging Engineer

Responsibilities:
MaxLinear is seeking a Staff Packaging Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the development of advanced package technology solutions for new products including PMIC, power modules, and lighting for the High-Performance Analog business. In this role, you will focus on the following:

- Identify and develop packaging solutions for new products
- Utilize managerial discretion to lead the development of design rules and cost analysis of assembly / package solutions
- Interface with assembly, bumping and substrate suppliers for new product and package development, qualification, and production ramp
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging, assembly process and materials
- Provide expert knowledge of OSAT flow, cost model and capabilities to enable supplier selection, process audits and evaluate technology roadmaps
Perform cost analysis of assembly / package solutions, maintain design rules and interface with CAE team for implementation, and create and maintain database of assembly and, package solutions

- In depth knowledge and understanding of IC packages (QFN, BGA, FCBGA, QFP, SIP Moduke) and assembly process
- Basic knowledge on design and simulation tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Team player, self-driven and goal oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 6 years of experience, or MS + 3 years of experience, or Ph.D.
