As a HSE, Engineer, you will be trusted with the Health, Safety and Environment of Alcon Manufacturing & Logistics Plant.
In this role, a typical day will include:
1. Deploy Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programmes:
a. Implement HSE Management System (HSEMS) and risk management (RM) plans.
b. Implement programmes to steer HSE culture, habits and norms of the organisation.
c. Clarify HSE programme requirements with employees of other departments.
d. Develop HSE training programmes and conduct trainings for safety-critical roles
2. Manage Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) performance:
a. Carry out HSE compliance inspections.
b. Support audit process.
c. Evaluate HSE non-compliance, unsafe work conditions and practices to identify HSE
performance gaps.
d. Evaluate impact of HSE hazards, including personal risk factors to employees' safety & prioritize issues based on severity.
e. Report findings of HSE compliance inspections and routine checks.
f. Recommend and implement actions to improve HSE performance and control risks.
g. Review effectiveness of implemented improvements on an on-going basis.
3. Develop Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management systems:
a. Coordinate HSE programme initiatives.
b. Develop and deliver safety briefings.
c. Monitor implementation progress of recommended HSE improvements.
d. Stay abreast of legislative requirements and alert of any changes.
e. Develop risk management (RM) plans for work processes and work areas.
f. Establish RM & risk assessment (RA) teams within respective work processes & areas.
4. Manage Crisis Management:
a. Implement emergency preparedness and response plans (EPRPs) & communicate plans
to stakeholders.
b. Coordinate EPRP drills and maintenance of emergency response equipment.
c. Conduct HSE incident and accident investigations.
d. Review investigation findings to identify causes of incidents and accidents.
e. Propose corrective and preventive measures to address root cause of incidents.
f. Prepare incident and accident reports.
g. Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management/ Workplace safety and Health with 1-2 years of working experience in a similar HSE role/ those without experience can be considered as training will be provided
- Diploma in EHS field with 5-7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing setting
- WSH Level B Advanced Certificate preferred
- Knowledge of GMP would be advantageous
