Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in web-research, online advertising, fraud detection, or similar.
- 2 years of experience in data analysis and in SQL or Python.
- Ability to work on a rotating basis, including weekend coverage, as needed.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with analytical tools andor data analysis (e.g., SQL, Python, dashboards).
- Experience leading cross-functional projects across organizational boundaries.
- Experience with enforcement processes.
- Ability to review or be exposed to sensitive or violative content as part of core role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly communicate technical concepts with multiple cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Passion for developing detailed operational processes from scratch.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. The News team within Trust & Safety (T&S) Search is recruiting enthusiastic, web-savvy individuals to work with cutting-edge technologies in order to keep users safe and improve the quality of Google News results. As part of this team, you will develop and manage cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Operations teams in a multifaceted effort to improve our processes for identifying and resolving policy and quality issues on Search.
On this team, you'll be a big picture thinking and strategic leader responsible for the execution of complex projects with a diverse group of stakeholders. You'll be proactive, motivated, organized, responsible, innovative, and thrive in a fast paced environment. You will be responsible to analyze market trends, set forward-looking strategy, and implement scaled solutions to solve user safety and quality issues, to ensure a high-quality user experience across Search products.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
**Responsibilities**:
- Initiate and lead projects to protect Google News users from abuse, inappropriate content, and fraud through investigation, prevention, and removal of quality issues. Develop insights and recommendations to enable effective and systematic solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues and product vulnerabilities to implement large-scale quality improvements. Analyze and identify new abuse trends.
- Conduct complex and actionable data analyses as well as identify new signals to improve search quality; drive the utilization of these signals to completion.
- Own and enhance operational workflows for T&S News enforcement workflows. Identify automation and efficiency opportunities independently.
