National Gallery Singapore is a leading visual arts institution which oversees the world’s largest public collection of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern art. It was the first museum in Asia to receive the Children in Museums Award by the European Museum Academy and Hands On International Association of Children in Museums in 2018. The Gallery also won the awards for “Best Theme Attraction” at TTG Travel Awards 2017, “Best Attraction Experience”, “Breakthrough Contribution to Tourism” and “Best Customer Service (Attractions)” at the prestigious Singapore Tourism Awards in 2016 for its role in adding to the vibrancy of Singapore’s tourism landscape.

DESIGNATION : Relationship Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent is part of the Collections Development team and will be responsible for supporting the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum within the Visual Arts Cluster (VAC).

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Senior Management of SAM/Gallery to create a strategic plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major artwork gift and purchase prospects.
- Engage, cultivate and solicit major gifts and purchases from a prospective donors and sellers working in close collaboration with curators.
- Customise approaches for different prospective donors that best aligns their philanthropic interests with SAM’s and Gallery’s collection development strategy.
- Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
- Work collaboratively with donors and prospects through all stages of development (identify, research, qualify, cultivate, solicit, steward). This may include the following:

- Serve as a primary contact point for key prospective artwork donors and sellers.
- Write articulate and compelling proposals to attract prospective donors to give artworks to the National Collection.
- Engage prospective donors through meaningful activities to deepen their relationship with SAM’s and Gallery’s curators, programmers, educators, artists and the collector community amongst others.
- Prepare briefing materials, donor correspondence, and other donor communications to support donor discussions; reinforcing relationships and ensure donor awareness of their support.
- Productively utilise available platforms such as donor events, special exhibition viewings, artist talks and symposia to engage prospective donors with the philanthropic causes at SAM and Gallery.
- Work closely with SAM’s Curatorial & Collections, and Partnership & Patronage teams to be up-to-date on the fulfilment of received gift
- Work closely with Gallery’s Collections Development, Curatorial and Partnership Development teams to develop and manage stewardship programmes and activities designed to build enduring relationships with supporters, communicate the impact and value of their giving and provide incentive for future giving.

QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5-8 years of work experience in engaging art collectors in Southeast Asia and beyond.
- Strategic mindset with proven ability to cultivate artwork donors and manage complex expectations that align with SAM’s and the Gallery’s collection development strategy.
