**Job Purpose / Role**:
Providing proactive and reactive Legal and Compliance support for the general insurance portfolio of the AGCS Regional Office with a focus on the retail segments in the region.

**Key Responsibilities**:
As part of the Legal and Compliance department, the individual will be involved in:

- The running of the Compliance programmes, performing policy and contractual reviews, providing legal (including insurance law and data privacy) advice;
- Overseeing the general operational set up, product development and projects of the retail segment from a Legal and Compliance perspective;
- Ensuring communication and implementation of applicable policies and procedures for the segment;
- Liaising with stakeholders in initiatives, exercises, projects and schemes relating to the retail business;
- Acting as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
- Developing, maintaining and revising policies and guidelines to ensure the Company is in compliance with all necessary guidelines, regulations and legislation;
- Implementing a comprehensive compliance program appropriate for the retail segment of the Company that is in compliance with local guidelines, law, regulations; and sales compliance policies/guidelines;
- Overseeing the sales compliance practices of the retail distribution channel(s) to detect and address any mis-selling, misrepresentation, misconduct, and unethical behaviour concerns, including performing comprehensive investigation, documenting investigation results and recommendation for reporting.
- Overseeing that the requirements of the Compliance programmes are satisfied in the retail segment set up and processes (eg AML, Economic Sanctions) and making the necessary adjustments for adherence.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
- Keeping abreast of industry developments and emerging trends, the introduction of new products/services, as well as their implications from a regulatory / compliance perspective.

**Key Experience / Requirements / Skills**:

- 3-5 years of Legal and Compliance experience in retail insurers operating in the Singapore and/or Hong Kong market with a legal background.
- Experience with local regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven team player and ability to work independently, establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues from different backgrounds, functions, and cultures.

Education
- Tertiary Qualification/Degree, preferably in Law or similar.

Languages
- Fluency in English is mandatory. Fluency in Mandarin or other Asian Languages is a plus.
