Head of Legal and Compliance, Asia

About the role

As the Head of Legal and Compliance, Asia at Scan Global Logistics Singapore Pte Ltd, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's operations and practices adhere to all relevant laws, regulations and ethical standards across the Asia region. This full-time, office-based role is located in the Downtown Core Central Region, Singapore.

What you'll be doing

• Overseeing the legal and compliance functions for Scan Global Logistics' operations in Asia, providing strategic guidance and hands-on support
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements
• Advising the business on legal and regulatory risks, and developing strategies to mitigate those risks
• Conduct internal audits and compliance checks.
• Check of sanctions and trade export control.
• Monitoring and interpreting changes in relevant laws, regulations and industry standards, and implementing appropriate compliance policies and procedures
• Collaborating cross-functionally to embed a culture of compliance and ethical business practices
• Representing the company in dealings with regulatory bodies, government agencies and other external stakeholders
• Project Management

What we're looking for

• Strong legal and compliance expertise, with the ability to interpret, apply, and adapt legal principles in fast-evolving business contexts.
• Experience in the freight forwarding or shipping industries is preferred, with sound understanding of commercial and operational dynamics.
• Demonstrates strategic judgment; able to balance legal integrity with commercial pragmatism, and to distinguish between ideal outcomes and what is practical for the business.
• Commercially astute and solutions-oriented, with a track record of providing advice that enables business growth while managing risk responsibly.
• Agile and adaptable, thrives in environments where priorities shift and decisions must be made on the go, maintaining clarity under pressure.
• High emotional intelligence (EQ) builds trust, communicates with tact, and manages sensitive issues with empathy and composure.
• Collaborative mindset, capable of working both independently and across multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational objectives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex legal matters clearly to non-legal stakeholders and influence decisions constructively.
