**Overview**
The job holder is responsible to provide sterile and reusable surgical instrument in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures. Supervise receiving, sorting, decontamination, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of the sterile items to operation theatres, SOC, in-patient wards and procedural rooms. He/ She is responsible for the efficient and smooth functioning of the Sterile Supplies Unit.

**Responsibilities**:
Primary Responsibilities (80%):

- Direct clinical and service qualities activities
- Ensure staff practice required standards when carrying out their work
- Evaluate the effectiveness of sterilizer test indicators and ensure proper recording
- Lead, supervise, coach and support staff To deliver high standard of practices
- Ensure staff issues sterile supplies To all supporting areas on a timely manner
- Plan and prepares staff roster and assignment
- Conduct and evaluate audits on practices and standards. Initiate actions for improvement
- Ensure staff receive proper orientation, appropriate training and evaluate staff competency prior To them functioning independently in their roles
- Perform formative and summative assessment of staff in the department
- Facilitate team dynamics and the smooth running of activities within the SSU
- Act as a resource person liaison for training and standards of practices
- Evaluate and monitor efficient and effective use of equipment within the department
- Evaluate and monitor efficient and effective use of consumables and supplies

Secondary Responsibilities (20%):

- Supervise and guide junior staff in their work
- Participate in clinical and service quality activities
- Demonstrate awareness of current health care practices and standards
- Oversee and coordinate improvement projects To the department requirement. Facilitate and upgrade of IT system and ensure compliance in utilization among staff
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Assistant/Deputy Director (Nursing) and Chief Nurse

**Requirements**:

- Diploma in Engineering or relevant technical credentials. WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services) will be an added advantage.
- Two years of working experience as Senior Instrument Technician with relevant experience in CSSD/ TSSU will be preferred
- Possess good inter-personal and supervisory skills
- Good command of written English and Knowledge of Microsoft Office
