**What we ask of you**:

- Play an essential role in implementation and development of Asia Marine Liabilities Business Plan alongside Senior Underwriter for Singapore and the wider Asia Pacific region.
- Develop strong links with Singapore based insurance brokers, clients and partners, as well as throughout the wider region.
- Direct responsibility for servicing existing and potential clients in Singapore and South East Asia.
- Regularly travel in Asia Pacific to market Markel Marine Liabilities products.
- Demonstrate sound and prudent underwriting judgement whilst continuously scrutinizing performance against plan and adjust approach if required.
- Actively keep knowledge and skills up-to-date through courses and seminars, where appropriate.
- Engage in portfolio management including quarterly budgeting, business review and strategies paper, if required.
- Work with Assistant Underwriters and administration team to ensure underwriting supporting workflow is smooth and in good order.
- To mentor and work closely with the team in terms of knowledge sharing for underwriting, claims handling, risk engineering etc.

**What you will bring to the role**:

- Hold a degree, A-level standard or equivalent technical underwriting experience.
- Have a detailed understanding of the Marine Liability insurance market ideally with minimum 3 years of underwriting experience.
- Demonstrate strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
