**Job Title: Underwriter/ Senior Underwriter, Engineering & Construction**

**The Opportunity**:
As an Underwriter/ Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing, evaluating, and underwriting commercial insurance risks. You will be responsible for developing, supporting, and implementing underwriting strategies, guidelines, and best practices to ensure profitable growth and robust risk management. Your technical expertise in engineering and risk assessment will support the underwriting of complex CAR/EAR project insurance policies, and related engineering policies. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Lines, you will be a key member of the team in

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conduct comprehensive underwriting assessments.
- Analyze engineering reports, building plans, and other technical documents.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies and guidelines.
- Determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing for complex engineering risks.
- Review and approve underwriting submissions, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (Senior Underwriter) and provide technical support and guidance to junior underwriters and other cross functional team members.
- Collaborate with intermediaries and clients to understand and assess their insurance needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and customers.
- Develop new business opportunities.
- Work closely with claims, risk engineering, and actuarial teams to monitor and improve underwriting performance.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports and documentation.
- Conduct competitor analysis and benchmark underwriting practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of underwriting decisions and actions.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.

**Qualifications, Experience & Skills**:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience (above 5 years for Senior Underwriter) in underwriting or risk assessment within the commercial insurance industry.
- Possesses knowledge in direct and reinsurance environment.
- Has regional experience in Asia Pacific.
- Proven track record in underwriting with specialty line in Engineering, Property or Energy.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
