Product Policy Manager, Harassment

The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our Users and Content Creators to enjoy and express themselves.

As a Product Policy Manager for Harassment & Bullying (H&B) on our APAC Trust & Safety team, you will be responsible for writing and enforcing H&B policies that address potential risks to users, including but not limited to: physical harm, psychological harm, developmental harm, and risk of exploitation. You will work closely with colleagues in Product & Process, Data Science, Product Feature, Legal, Public Policy, and Communications. This role requires strong knowledge and understanding of the varied forms of harassment and bullying, as well as how these behaviors manifest online. This role will report to the Global Issue Policy Lead.

What will I be doing?

Write product policies that are relevant to TikTok's global community, with a focus on protecting users from harmful content.
Handle high-profile escalations and consult on how, if at all, content violates our community guidelines and policy standards.
Collaborate closely with your H&B peers in Dublin and US.
Partner with adjacent Issue teams, such as Hateful Behaviour and Adult Nudity & Sexual Activity, to identify when policy themes overlap and how to best address nuanced harms.
Partner with internal and external researchers to learn about regional variations, and how content policies and enforcement may be adapted.
Work closely with cross-functional partners (Content Programming, Product Policy, Legal, Data Analytics, Operations, and others), to establish a workflow to critically analyze and improve our safety policies.
Consult with cross-functional teams on how features like Video, Comments, Follows, Likes, Accounts, etc. can be designed to mitigate harassment and reinforce our policies.

**Qualifications**:
What should I bring with me?

You have an academic background in Political Science, Sociology, Law or related experience.
You have significant experience in Policy, Policy Enforcement, Social Work, Psychology, Prevention Science, or Public Policy, specifically in technology/social media/content.
Experience developing and refining policies that are designed to scale across large populations.
A solutions mindset to regularly assess policy challenges and then develop strategies to bolster policy effectiveness.
Some understanding of Trust & Safety positioning in the entertainment media technology sector, with comfort learning internal tools and product workflows.
Excellent communication skills and an ability to educate a wide variety of business stakeholders including Content Creative, Product Policy, Engineering, Public Policy, Legal, Communications, and Data Science on the nuances of our policies.
Enthusiasm for learning new tools, backend structures, and unique product features.

**Nice to have**:
Knowledge of variations in culture and values across diverse populations.
Familiarity designing codebooks, measures, questionnaires, surveys, etc. that are vetted for construct validity and rater reliability.
