Business Development Executive

Purpose of the role:
The person will support the implementation of the firm's sector plans in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific region. The role will support lawyers in all aspects of business development, covering a wide portfolio of BD tasks which include proposals, client targeting and account management, credentials materials and tactical marketing activity such as sponsorship and thought leadership eg sector campaigns and product development.
The role sits within the Asia Pacific BD team which comprises individuals based in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore and Sydney.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with all BD activity for the Singapore office and support its strategy, grow profitable revenue, and monitor the implementation of key initiatives
- Drive the generation of profitable revenue through:
- assisting with bids that the firm has a high likelihood of winning that originate from the Singapore office, and guiding those completed by others in the firm such as lawyers and legal PAs
- support the team in facilitating major pursuits through identification, developing value propositions, coordinating input and drafting content
- maintaining up-to-date credentials for the Singapore office
- Contribute to the firm's client relationship management programme (Atlas) through
- assisting several clients with strong potential across the Asia Pacific regio n
- supporting client teams in the pursuit of growth with such clients
- maintaining up-to-date Relationship Development Plans (RDPs) for each client
- ensuring actions within RDPs are followed through and continuously refreshed to ensure billings with these clients are increasing and overall objectives are being achieved
- in conjunction with the Business Development Manager and Client Relationship Manager, Asia Pacific undertake client relationship health checks and tender debriefs (where relevant)
- Support the _Brand & Comms Plan _for Singapore, including planning and executing in-person and virtual events and sponsorships for Singapore
- Production of legal directory and awards submissions for Singapore
- Continue to build the firm's profile by ensuring effective use of all appropriate communication channels, including our internal news source (Out-Law), media, membership bodies, social media (LinkedIn) etc.
- Monitor the firm’s sector environments to identify and educate on trends and developments, connecting these to our capability. Support the BDM in the identification of opportunities to acquire new clients/grow existing clients via targeted pursuits, leveraging firm campaign strategy where applicable
- Regularly share best practice and facilitate collaborative working between regions, sectors and groups
- Ensure that BD material is compliant with local legal requirements and is branded according to the brand guidelines, including liaising with the firm's design team (The Design Bar)
- Coach and guide junior team members, and Legal PAs, on general approaches to BD.
Team support:
- Attend relevant Group and Sector meetings
- Liaise with external providers
- Other responsibilities as directed by the Business Development Manager for Australia.
Qualifications:
- Degree educated
- Relevant marketing, business or communications qualification.
Relevant experience:
- Ideally 3-5+ years’ experience in a business development role with a particular focus on drafting and managing client proposals, pursuits management, account management, and marketing, preferably in a professional services environment
- Strong writing skills used to produce brand-consistent proposals and marketing material
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Knowledge of the Asia Pacific marketplace, particularly Australia
- Knowledge of the five sectors in which the firm markets itself is desirable
- Brand, events and communications experience is desirable.
