Deputy Director – Business Development & Strategic Planning

Job Scope

As the Deputy Director in Business Development & Strategic Planning, you will be working closely with several companies and research institutions in the Electronics cluster to understand their business and technologies, and matchmake these companies together to bring in new investments and jobs into the Singapore economy.

You will be working closely with your team to promote technology commercialization and transfer of knowledge from the research side to the commercial side.

  • Engage with private sector companies to understand their business, products, and technology requirements.
  • Liaise with scientific units and research institutions to understand their capabilities and relevance to companies.
  • Collaborate with external partners such as private sector companies and researchers and link them up to promote commercialization of new technology and bringing new jobs in Singapore.
  • Work closely with the industry players to market their portfolio and research capabilities through licensing and facilitate the technology transfer as per required.
  • Translate technical terms and policies into laymen terms for management review and facilitate high-level decision-making processes and convincing others on feasibility of new concepts.
  • Deploy and position team members and officers in roles that will nurture and grow their effectiveness.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical/Electronics/Material Engineering or related field. Masters Degree with several years of experience will also be considered.
  • 7-years of experience in the electronics space, with 3-years of leadership/business development/strategic planning experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor fabrication, equipment development, and local enterprise development will be a big advantage.
  • Strong communication skill (oral and written) is a must.
  • Proven history of being able to influence decisions makers and stakeholders.
