Specializing in Windows and Linux Environments

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Backup Storage Engineer to join our team, specializing in both Windows and Linux environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and storage solutions that ensure the data integrity and availability of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Architecture: Develop backup and storage strategies that meet the organization's needs, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
• Implementation: Deploy and configure backup and storage solutions across Windows and Linux platforms.
• Maintenance: Monitor backup processes and storage systems to ensure they are functioning correctly, performing regular checks, preventative maintenance and updates as necessary. Maintain storage aspects of new server integrations, storage allocation, and Change Management
• Disaster Recovery: Create and test disaster recovery plans to guarantee minimal downtime and data loss in the event of system failures.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to backup and storage systems in a timely manner.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of backup and storage configurations, procedures, and recovery plans, policies and procedures to support the operational storage environment and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies. Prepare reports on storage administration best practices, new technologies, etc. and recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize storage
• Compliance: Ensure all backup and storage solutions are compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security professionals, to align backup and storage solutions with overall IT infrastructure.
• Configure and administer: Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) storage and associated components, Storage Area Network (SAN) and associated components; including Fibre Channel switch administration, data restore and disaster recovery, data backup clients and servers
• Setup: procedures to consolidate storage of data from different platforms (i.e. Windows, UNIX and LINUX)
• Storage analysis: capacity planning and performance planning of storage components
• Incident management, change request, service request and change request

Required Qualifications

• Educational Background: Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in backup and storage engineering, with expertise in both Windows and Linux environments.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in backup software (e.g., Veritas, Veeam, Symantec), storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS), and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are preferred.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively troubleshoot backup and storage issues.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document processes and interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of encryption and data security best practices
• Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud storage solutions and cloud-based backup strategies.
• Able to handle demanding service response and recovery turnaround
• Able to manage daily support tasks to meet stringent SLA requirements
• Excellent scheduling and multitasking skills
• Meticulous and process-oriented
• Good, hard-working attitude with ability to work well under pressure
• Good communication skills English (written, spoken)
• Good analytical skills with ability to work with others to resolve problems.
• Good organization skills, with ability to properly document and track information.
• Preferably with Microsoft Certification and/or ITIL certification.
• Dynamic, customer-oriented, experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Good Knowledge of following products will be advantageous:

-Microsoft Azure Stack

-Commvault Backup and Recovery

-Isilon

• Project Management: Experience in managing backup and storage projects.
