Postgre Database Consultant

Position Overview

The position requires supporting the setup, installation, maintenance, and business-as-usual (BAU) operations of Postgre database. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, administration, and optimization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Setup, install, and maintain postgre database for financial applications.
• Develop and implement database architecture solutions that meet business requirements and ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, monitoring, and tuning to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Analyze and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and resource management.
• Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Work closely with application development teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and support of database systems.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures
• Perform regular BAU operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing.
• Ensure high availability and scalability of postgre database.
• Create and maintain documentation for postgre environments and processes.
• Coordinate with principle vendor for the incidents and support.
• Well verse with ITSM tools and processes.
• Drives continuous improvement and value adds.
• Establish relationships with customer / business units with technical knowledge and solutions.
• Drive end-to-end implementation including setup, configuration, scaling, monitoring, and governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Integrate observability and monitoring tools.

Experience

• Total 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management services
• Total 8+ years of relevant experience in postgre database architecture, including setup, installation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database management and administration.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Experience with database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Familiarity with database security best practices.
• Experience with database migration and upgrade processes.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery techniques.
• Strong experience with postgre database, and other databases.
• Strong background in Linux system administration.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with ITSM tools and processes.
• Experience in working in infra projects with BFSI customers.
• Experience of global delivery with offshore/ onsite model.
• Experience working in agile and DevOps-driven environments.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and standards.
• Develop automation scripts for routine database tasks using tools like Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Manage database patching and upgrades seamlessly.
• Set up and maintain replication (logical/streaming replication) and high-availability solutions.
• Implement clustering and failover strategies.
• Work closely with application development teams to design database solutions.
• Provide technical expertise for database-related aspects of development and deployment.
• Use monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Nagios, or custom scripts) to track database performance.
• Generate regular reports on database health, growth, and performance.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with ITSM tools and processes.
• Experience in working in infra projects with BFSI customers.
• Experience of global delivery with offshore/ onsite model.

Qualification

• Must have bachelor's or master's degree in IT/ engineering or equivalent qualification.

• Good have ITIL certification.
• Must be trained in ITSM tools, process, remedy, service now, jira, confluence, sharepoint.
