Position Title: Buyer

Department: Materials

Location: Jurong East, Singapore

Responsible for procuring raw materials, purchase parts, machinery, supplies, and other goods and services required in the production process, ensuring the best possible price, quality, and delivery.

Specific Responsibilities:

System Support

  1. Review all requisitions, especially engineering change requests, to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
  2. Maintain and update supplier and pricing databases.
  3. Ensure purchasing documentation complies with ISO requirements and GPP standards.

Operational Support

  1. Stay informed on supply chain issues affecting production, such as material shortages.
  2. Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve production line issues caused by supply chain disruptions.
  3. Work with QA and Engineering teams, and liaise with affected suppliers to address quality or drawing-related component issues.
  4. Act as liaison between suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis.
  5. Handle ad hoc demand requests from customers when their units are in WIP (Work in Progress).

Qualifications / Requirements:

  1. Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering/Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
  2. Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering/Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Preferably holds a professional purchasing management certificate.
  4. Proficiency in MRP/SAP systems is ESSENTIAL.
