About the role

Join a leading public sector organisation at the forefront of Singapore's transport technology. We are looking for a skilled System Engineer/System Administrator to manage and enhance the mission-critical infrastructure behind the nation's Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system – powering seamless MRT and bus payments for millions daily. In this role, you will work across Linux, Windows, UNIX, virtualization, middleware, and cloud platforms, ensuring smooth operations, robust security, and continuous innovation.

What you'll be doing

  1. Install, configure, and maintain Linux, Windows, and UNIX (AIX) systems.
  2. Manage virtualization (VMware) and middleware (WebSphere Application Servers & Message Queue).
  3. Implement and configure new systems, software, and applications to meet business requirements
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems
  5. Perform regular system backups, monitoring, and security updates
  6. Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute system upgrades and migrations
  7. Drive research & development to improve infrastructure reliability.
  8. Contribute to the development and documentation of IT policies and procedures
  9. Support both on-premise and Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) environments.

What we're looking for

  1. Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or related.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a System Administrator or IT Engineer
  3. Strong working knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  4. Skills in Linux scripting, VMware, Middleware; GCC experience a plus.
  5. Experience in network administration, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and firewall management
  6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with end-users and stakeholders
  8. Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, MCSE, VCP) would be an advantage
