Receptionists should have outstanding communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills . They spend most of their time dealing with a wide variety of guests and visitors. This means that they have to interact with people who have different personalities and behaviors

A few of the main duties of a front desk agent are greeting guests at the front desk, answering any questions, recommending activities and products of the company, and answering any phone calls .

The business duties of a receptionist include answering visitors' enquiries about a company and its products or services, directing visitors to their destinations, sorting and handing out mail , answering incoming calls on multi-line telephones, setting appointments and schedules.
