Job purpose:

Main Purpose

  • To assist head of Forward Engineers and head of EM to build a digital, sustainable, and profitable EM Rates business in Asia
  • To build a Rates business in Asia - deliver Rates products to clients in Asia and Europe, manage franchise profitably
  • To market make in longer ended Asianm EM currencies and optimize risk management through use of Rates products
  • To lead and manage trading activities, so as to foster business opportunities, ensure effective trading and risk management in a capital and cost efficient manner.
  • To maximize the revenue through working closely with sales teams and branch management
  • To maintain such technical competence as is required and to behave at all times in a manner consistent with policies, procedures, limits and all applicable regulations.
  • To ensure a high standard of expertise within the area of responsibility such that behavior is technically competent and appropriate within policies and limits as well as regulatory requirements.

Activities

  • To establish an efficient working relationship with Sales and other Trading desks and to price customer enquiries in a commercial fashion.
  • To effectively manage the risk of the trading books and to maintain such risk within all limits and guidelines.
  • To work to continuously improve the quality of trading, customer service, profitability, reputation and market position of the business, and to identify and take action on new business opportunities.

Key activities:

Network

  • To maintain and develop such network within Financial Markets and Capital Markets, and the wider bank as is required and consistent with the strategic goals as identified by the Head of EM Trading and Head of Forward Engineers
  • To provide information, advice and guidance to other staff for the advancement of the strategic goals of the business.
  • To maintain awareness of global trends and events affecting EM business in the medium to long term.

Controls

  • To act only within the scope of the Trading Mandate and only in the Specified Markets.
  • To act in accordance with the Financial Markets Risk Strategy
  • To observe internal limits policies and procedures in addition to external regulations.

Responsibilities

  • To deal effectively with day to day activities, to act in a professional manner and with propriety at all times, to escalate to senior managementas appropriate.
  • To keep senior staff informed of significant market developments and trends.
  • To ensure Commerzbank maintains its profitability, reputation and market share.
  • To ensure client concerns and queries are dealt with promptly and fairly
  • To know and keep updated of the rules and regulations of the markets and exchanges in which you trade.

Formal education:

  • Formal education: university degree or similar
  • More than 5 years of experience in a Rates trading role

Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):

  • Able to demonstrate an exceptional degree of initiative
  • Have a high degree of interest in trading and financial markets
  • Able to deliver in a high pressure and results oriented environment
  • Experience in applying quantitative techniques to optimise an electronic market making business
  • Strong background in statistics
  • Comfortable working with numerical computing languages (eg. R, Matlab, Python), some experience with q/kdb+ and Java preferred
