The Operations Leader oversees daily plant activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role leads a team of technicians and contractors, drives operational excellence, and ensures full compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Leading incident investigations, managing process control and emergency response, and coordinating permit-to-work processes.
  • Planning manpower and shift schedules, conducting effective team briefings, and fostering a positive, safety-focused work culture.
  • Lead effective shift briefings and communicate key objectives to the team
  • Manage inventory accuracy, support plant turnarounds and commissioning activities, and act as the Site Main Controller (SMC) during after-hours incidents.
  • Handle customer and stakeholder inquiries, ensure service delivery quality, and contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to continuous improvement and capability-building initiatives.
  • Initiate and lead improvement programs in plant operations
  • Support new projects and contractor management

Requirement

  • Degree in Chemical Process Technology
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant operations experience in a chemical industry with 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong practical knowledge of site processes and operations.
  • Deep understanding of product handling, operational equipment, and safety management practices.
  • Solid expertise in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, industry codes, and best practices in operational safety.
  • Must be willing and able to work on-site at our Jurong Island facility.
  • Trained or certified in relevant operational roles (e.g., Port Facility Security Officer, Working at Heights Supervisor, Permit-to-Work approver).
