About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Export Shipping Manager to oversee all export operations and ensure seamless, compliant, and cost-efficient international shipments. The ideal candidate will lead a high-performing team, drive operational excellence, and strengthen relationships with global customers and logistics partners.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead and manage the export shipping team, ensuring continuous improvement in service quality and transit time performance.
  • Work closely with senior management to support both new and existing customers.
  • Collaborate with the Import Shipping Manager to define and track departmental KPIs.
  • Train, coach, and enhance the competency and performance of the export shipping team.
  • Maintain and manage all ISO 9001–related records and documentation.

Export & Customs Operations

  • Ensure full compliance with import/export regulations and customs requirements for Singapore and international markets (e.g., Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Middle East, Bangladesh).
  • Oversee freight negotiations with forwarders and manage vessel bookings.
  • Prepare and verify full sets of shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, insurance documents, bank drafts, and legalization where required.
  • Manage export documentation in line with Letters of Credit and ensure accuracy and completeness.

Customer & Vendor Management

  • Work closely with customers to develop efficient and feasible logistics solutions.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and disputes, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, hauliers, transporters, and business-related partners.
  • Liaise with the quality team and relevant authorities for inspections and compliance matters.

Operational Management & Reporting

  • Oversee daily export and forwarding operations.
  • Prepare and manage sales contracts, forecasts, shipment plans, and operational reports.
  • Verify billing for warehousing, loading, and production packing costs.
  • Issue sales contracts and work orders.
  • Negotiate extensions of free time with shipping lines when required.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in export/logistics, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of export documentation, customs procedures, warehouse operations, and freight processes.
  • Experienced in working with external vendors such as 3PLs or warehouse providers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Navision experience is advantageous).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage time-sensitive operations.
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment with multiple moving components.
