MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine the acceptability of samples with guidelines and prepares specimens for analysis.
  2. Perform laboratory tests as stated in the standard procedure manual.
  3. Co-ordinate general workflow and prioritize laboratory requests according to Stat, Urgent and routine.
  4. Able to operate and calibrate most laboratory instruments.
  5. Perform periodic preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  6. Perform quality control (QC) procedures, verify that values are within specified limits and document all QC data.
  7. Validate the accuracy of laboratory data.
  8. Has knowledge of theory of laboratory procedures and understand the basic physiology of laboratory result.
  9. Responsible for informing clinic nurses immediately of abnormally high or low results or unacceptable specimens and document these in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  10. Perform new procedures as directed.
  11. Identify technical, instrumental, and/or physiologic causes of unexpected test results.
  12. Detect malfunctioning of laboratory equipment & troubleshoots basic instrument problems with established parameters or consult Principal/Senior Medical Technologist.
  13. Proper storage of specimens if tests are not done on the same day.
  14. Prepare specimen to send to designated reference laboratory.
  15. Disinfect workbench upon completion of work.
  16. Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
  17. Any other duties as directed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Diploma in Medical Technology or Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) or equivalent.
  2. Team player with initiative and be adaptive to changes.
  3. Pleasant personality and responsible
  4. Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Able to work afternoon duties, staggered duties and night duties.
