The Medical Technologist will be performing routine laboratory tests for blood transfusion such as blood grouping, antibody screening and cross-matching. He/she will also be performing diagnostic procedures for Hematology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for receiving, registration and processing of patient samples.
  • Perform blood grouping, antibody screening and compatibility tests.
  • Perform hematology tests.
  • Preparation of reagents and QC materials.
  • Perform and monitor quality control for all laboratory procedures.
  • Assist in training of new staff and check laboratory stock and supplies, as well as ordering replenishments.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory analyzers.
  • Handle telephone inquiries from wards and specialist centres.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences or its equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience as a medical technologist in a Blood Bank and Clinical laboratory
  • Possess good knowledge in blood group and antibody system
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess strong eye for details and good problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Able to multitask and work independently as well as in a team
  • Required to work rotating shifts including night shift (weekends/eve/public holidays)
