Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Sales & Operations Director leads, directs, and controls the activities and resources of both the Sales and Operations Divisions to ensure that the Organization achieves its business objectives in line with the corporate strategies and policies of the Headquarters.

This position plays a critical role in translating Headquarters' global direction and the Managing Director's corporate plan into actionable strategies for the Organization's local market. The Director ensures that business plans are executed effectively, operational excellence is achieved, and customer satisfaction, profitability, and compliance standards are maintained.

This role operates under the strategic direction and delegation of the Managing Director and collaborates closely to align divisional performance with overall company objectives.

Job Responsibilties:

Strategic Alignment & Execution

  • Translate Headquarters' short-, mid-, and long-term strategies and policies into practical, measurable, and sustainable plans for the Sales and Operations Divisions.
  • Support the Managing Director in the execution of the Organization's corporate plan, ensuring divisional objectives contribute to the Organizations' overall mission and growth.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Sales and Operations strategies and propose adjustments to remain competitive in evolving Marine, Offshore, and Onshore markets.
  • Provide regular performance analysis and forecasts to the Managing Director to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure that divisional strategies, activities, and decisions consistently reflect and operationalize Headquarters' group directions and long-term policies.

Sales & Business Development

  • Lead the Sales Division to achieve business growth in Marine and Offshore/Onshore segments by expanding customer base and strengthening relationships with key clients, dealers, and partners.
  • Oversee the development of sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and pricing policies aligned with Headquarters' global objectives.
  • Represent the Organization in key customer negotiations and ensure that contract terms are commercially sound and operationally deliverable.
  • Promote collaboration with Headquarters' group Organization to enhance regional synergy and develop cross-border business opportunities.

Operations & Service Excellence

  • Lead the Operations Division to ensure service quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with customer and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between Sales, Service, and Supply Chain teams to improve order fulfilment, delivery timelines, and after-sales service.
  • Oversee the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, ISO and safety management systems, and preventive maintenance of company assets.
  • Drive digitization and process optimization initiatives to enhance operational visibility, productivity, and customer responsiveness.
  • Foster stronger alignment between Sales, Service, and internal support functions to improve communication and reduce cross-department friction.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new systems, standards, and processes.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, guide, and mentor the teams within Sales and Operations to achieve divisional and corporate goals.
  • Cultivate a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, teamwork, and alignment with company values.
  • Work closely with HR to ensure proper manpower planning, performance evaluation, and staff development aligned with organizational needs.
  • Lead succession planning, capability development, and performance management within both divisions to ensure organizational continuity and leadership pipeline readiness.
  • Demonstrate leadership that balances decisiveness with respect for Headquarters' group culture and collaborative spirit.

Corporate Compliance & Coordination

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, WSH, PDPA, export control, and other relevant statutory regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance & Accounting, HR, Compliance & Facilities, and IT to ensure coordinated execution of company-wide policies.
  • Participate in management review meetings and provide inputs on business and operational performance.
  • Maintain effective communication and reporting channels with headquarters and group organization.

Authority:

  • Operate under the delegated authority of the Managing Director to oversee and control all activities within the Sales and Operations Divisions, ensuring strategic alignment and adherence to organization policy.
  • Approve quotations, proposals, and purchase orders within delegated authority limits (up to SGD 500,000).
  • Decide on non-routine matters brought up by the Head of Sales and Head of Operations concerning contracts, vendors, and customers.
  • Approve manpower requisitions, employment-related letters, and divisional resource requirements within approved budgets.
  • Recommend strategic business improvements and operational efficiency measures to the Managing Director.
  • Represent Organization in major negotiations with customers, vendors, or partners, as delegated by the Managing Director.
  • Ensure divisional compliance with internal control procedures and financial discipline.

Knowledge / Skill Requirements

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic management skills.
  • Proven ability to integrate group-level strategy into local execution.
  • In-depth understanding of Marine, Offshore, and Onshore business environments.
  • High level of commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated business turnaround capability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required; fluency in reading and writing Japanese will be an advantage to facilitate communication with Headquarters and Japanese-speaking clients.
  • Strong understanding of ISO and quality management systems, workplace safety, and export compliance requirements.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's Degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 16 years of experience with at least 7 years in senior management, preferably in Marine, Offshore, or related industries.
  • Proven track record in managing sales operations, service delivery, and cross-functional teams in a multinational environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and total quality management principles.
