The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatic Consulting Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a key technical expert for Roche Sequencing products, providing high-level support and fostering scientific excellence across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. You will leverage your deep expertise in Bioinformatics and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) to support our APAC affiliates and internal cross-functional teams, ensuring customer success and the effective adoption of our technologies.
You will be the go-to resource for resolving complex technical challenges related to NGS data analysis and our software pipelines. This position requires you to provide expert guidance, training, and troubleshooting to empower our regional partners. Exhibiting exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to act as the primary scientific and technical partner for our APAC affiliates and internal cross-functional teams. You will ensure the successful adoption and utilization of Roche Sequencing products throughout the region by providing expert-level bioinformatics support, advanced training, and troubleshooting. By empowering our regional partners with deep technical knowledge, you will help strengthen local capabilities, drive scientific and technical excellence, and ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience across APAC.
As the Bioinformatic Consulting Manager (Sequencing Lab), Application & Consulting, you are responsible for:
Data and Pipeline Management:
Manage and standardise end-to-end NGS data lifecycle, from instrument run data to analysis-ready results, by managing primary, secondary, and tertiary workflows.
- Apply expertise in bioinformatics, statistics, and genomics to all stages of the data lifecycle.
- Maintain reference files and workflow settings.
- Ensure consistent and compliant performance across platforms by applying SOPs and change control in collaboration with FAS, Engineering, and IT.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Support cross functional root cause investigations. Interpret run metrics and genomic evidence using established QC and visualization methods to separate artifacts from true signal, and deliver clear, actionable remediation plans. Escalate emerging patterns to global teams and update SOPs to prevent recurrence.
- Affiliate Enablement and Training: Lead hands-on training for affiliates. Provide scientific and technical consultation on workflow configuration, data interpretation, and QC best practices, and ensure effective use of analysis tools. Create and maintain workflow documentation and training materials, tailored to regional requirements.
- Validation and Implementation: Validate new bioinformatics pipelines and software updates to ensure they meet performance standards before regional deployment.
Supporting functional team:
Partner closely with Field Application Specialists on sequencing QC, performance interpretation, and customer-facing troubleshooting. Provide pre-sales consultation, scientific and technical input and advice, assist with product demonstrations, support installation and training, and translate complex bioinformatics findings into clear guidance.
- Work with IT and Engineering on the technical infrastructure layer including servers, storage, secure data transfer, access control, and data security. Ensure reliable and compliant data flow from sequencers to analysis systems.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and throughput issues and coordinate cross-functional fixes to keep large-scale sequencing analyses efficient, reproducible, and compliant.
Collaboration with global team
Combine global's deep, core-product knowledge with the regional consultant understanding of the local context, leading to a more effective solutions for high-impact problem
- Active participation in the Master Trainer Community to ensure co-creation of training content.
- Be the Voice of APAC to gather, prioritize all feedback from all affiliates
- Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain clear documentation for new or modified workflows. Meticulously document all affiliate and customer-facing interactions in our CRM system and report regional trends to management.
- Internal Expertise and Mentorship: Act as a bioinformatics expert for internal projects, support cross-functional teams with technical insights, and mentor team members.
- Report to the Application Consulting Team Manager, Lab & C-Suite Value Stream.

- A Natural Mentor: You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, serving as a technical mentor to colleagues and guiding them in best practices.
Qualification and Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
- A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related field; OR a master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR a bachelor's degree in a related life science discipline combined with extensive relevant experience.
- Familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and its applications, including Targeted Sequencing, Comprehensive Genomic Profiling, Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), and ideally, Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
- Proven experience in customer-facing technical support, field application, or advanced scientific support role for NGS assays and instruments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Exceptional presentation and training skills, with experience presenting scientific data to diverse audiences.
Preferred/Desirable:
- Experience working in a regional support role or interacting with teams across the diverse APAC market.
- Experience working in a clinical or translational genetics/genomics laboratory setting.
- Proficiency with Linux/CLI and basic scripting in Python or R to run pipelines, automate routine tasks, and summarize results.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Practical wet-lab experience and a fundamental understanding of DNA sequencing instruments and library preparation protocols.
- Knowledge of IT and Connectivity is preferred
