Amazon Pre Construction Managers (PCMs) are strategic leaders at the forefront of construction innovation, maintaining a focus on delivering the most innovative products to our customers. Our data centers are industry leading facilities in terms of energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. The Data Center PCM is ultimately responsible for pre-construction planning, design coordination, contractor engagement, and project setup that enables successful construction delivery. The PCM will also be utilized as a leader in their specific discipline (pre-construction management, design coordination, value engineering, or project development) and shall be responsible as a team member for de-risking and preparing complex, mission-critical infrastructure systems for reliable construction delivery.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead bi-annual planning cycles to identify optimal project delivery strategies based on design complexity, build risk, and business criticality

• Develop and execute Project Delivery Strategy documentation during Due Diligence phase

• Coordinate with Design Managers and stakeholder teams to align delivery strategies with project requirements

• Drive cost optimization and schedule efficiency throughout the pre-construction phase

• Proactively identify and assess project risks during due diligence and design development phases

• Implement comprehensive risk mitigation strategies to ensure predictable project outcomes

• Coordinate early identification of site constraints, regulatory challenges, and technical complexities

• Establish contingency planning and risk response protocols to minimize delivery impacts

• Review design development phases from kickoff through completion with focus on scalable delivery solutions

• Manage constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives, and cost planning processes

• Facilitate collaboration between design consultants, contractors, and internal teams

• Ensure design quality and constructability standards support reliable construction execution

• Lead contractor selection and engagement processes for optimal project delivery outcomes

• Coordinate with Data Center Sourcing & Procurement on contractor evaluation and award processes

• Manage contractor performance and deliverable quality during pre-construction phases

• Facilitate seamless transition from design to construction execution with comprehensive handoff protocols

• Establish and monitor key performance indicators to ensure delivery targets are met

• Coordinate with Cost Planning teams to ensure accurate budgeting and cost management

• Implement quality control processes and performance tracking systems throughout pre-construction

• Manage project documentation and ensure compliance with Amazon delivery standards

• Support development of regional construction standards and delivery best practices

• Contribute to global knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives

A day in the life
You will use data and anecdotes to tactically drive internal customers to manage project risks (time, cost, quality and safety). Daily responsibilities include all pre-construction aspects of the entire data center lifecycle starting with site feasibility and due diligence, Delivery strategy, comprehensive design review, constructability analysis, cost estimation and value engineering, permitting support, GC Procurement and preparation for seamless transition to construction teams for reliable facility delivery.
You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You must have diplomacy, patience and tact to earn trust in relationships to effectively advise, instruct and challenge internal and external partner teams on strategies and processes.

About the team
You will be integrated with a global network of Construction professionals including Construction Managers, Cost planner, Program Managers, Regional Managers, and Regional Project Engineers in operational teams, as well as the Data Engineers.
Our Data Center Pre-Construction team owns and drives the process for program, cost, constructability, procurement and delivery strategies, bid analysis through to contract award.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering

7+ years of relevant experience within industry.

Experience in End-to-End Project Planning and Cost Management from Due Diligence, Site assessment & Concept design test fit phase.

Experienced in Design review, Constructability, Value Engineering & Safety in Design

Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years' experience as a Pre-Construction, Construction, Project manager for a major developer, general contractors, Client side consultancy or Data Center provider.

Experience collaborating effectively with various stakeholders across large organizations.

Direct experience in the design, construction, or management of data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale commercial projects.

Experience in developing and presenting business case analyses or budgets to senior leadership, including driving continuous improvement methodologies and practices
