Job Summary: An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic trading team managing diverse commodities across the Asian market.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain trading activities across various commodities such as energy, chemicals, paper, and food.
  • Ensure all trade receivables and payables are processed in a timely manner.
  • Use market intelligence to monitor trends, collect and analyze data, and formulate effective trading strategies.
  • Identify and develop new suppliers and customers within the region by leveraging networks, attending trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Manage individual or team trading portfolios, including purchasing and selling activities.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics, operations, and risk management teams to ensure smooth and profitable trade execution.
  • Lead negotiations for both buying/selling transactions and claim settlements.
  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness by reviewing financial statements and other relevant information.
  • Participate in industry entertainment occasions with suppliers and customers to adapt to market culture and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Occasional business travel to various Asian countries.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of sales experience in commodity trading.
  • Understanding of shipping processes and trade payment methods.
  • Basic knowledge in accounting and ability to read/analyze financial reports.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel frequently to meet/visit customers and suppliers at short notice.
  • Comfortable with occasional late-night dealings due to time zone differences.
  • Knowledge in shipping and trade payment modes is an added advantage.
