Senior Director, APJ Networking, Security and Automation, Solution Engineering**The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?**

As a Senior Director, Networking & Security Solution Engineering (SE) APJ, you will have a unique opportunity to inspire, grow and lead an incredibly talented team of Solution Directors, Managers and Engineers. You will be a critical pillar in the bridge between a technical solution and the positive business outcome for our customers and partners.

You will be part of the APJ leadership team to evolve the role of presales and accelerate VMware global transformation to a Multi Cloud and App market leader and Subscription company.

In this role you will have the opportunity to engage with our most strategic customers in the region at Executive level to foster our business partnership and ensure our solutions are adopted to obtain their business outcomes.

**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**
- Partnering with key stakeholders in sales, business units, supporting functions and corporate teams, you will be inspiring balanced change through a series of programs and projects.
- Leading the Networking & Security Solution Engineering team across APJ
- The nature of the presale’s organization is to be the technology trusted advisor and proactively engage our customers and partners to identify or inspire initiatives that generate demand across our entire portfolio and ensuring an accelerated path to adoption.
- A big focus of the role is on team development, including approval of training plans, career development planning, conducting annual performance reviews, and coaching/counselling of managers and team members for their professional growth.
- Personally, the Senior Director is expected to take a customer-centric approach to shaping and articulating VMware’s technology and strategy
- You will be the senior technology go to person for the whole APJ within Networking & Security to drive digital transformation for customers and partners, while continually staying on top of industry trends and working with Product Engineering to devise enhancements to VMware solutions based on customer and partner demand.

**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**
- Leverage your experience of inspiring a large presales organization across the APJ geography
- To recruit and retain the most capable and diverse solution engineering team to support VMware’s growth; the intent is to produce the next generation of leadership for VMware, to create and drive innovative programs focused on achieving growth.
- To Drive the Networking & Security Solution Engineering organization on all technical sales activities and manage customer relationships and operations
- Engage with VMware’s customers, and partners to explain our technology vision in a manner that helps build commitment to this vision and drive adoption of our technology solutions
- Build C-level relationships with VMware’s customer and partners that result in deeper loyalty to VMware and broader adoption of VMware’s solutions
- Expand VMware’s influence with key industry firms by helping to develop, articulate, and refine our overall strategy, technology vision, and case examples of customer impact
- Participate in regular territory and forecast reviews with the regional sales directors resulting in a detailed understanding of the top opportunities in each region
- Review of resource utilisation, planning for specialised coverage of all major sales activity areas and review of the resource matching process.
- Communicate to our partners and customers through a range of vehicles, including VMware-sponsored events and press engagements, sales meetings, and social media

**What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?**

The hiring manager for this role is Muna Khurshid, who is the Vice President, Worldwide Networking & Security Solution Engineering and this role will be reporting to her. Muna is motivated and dynamic leader with a diverse technical and business background.

**Where is the role located?**

**Flexible**: Preferred locations are Singapore but open to other large cities across APJ. The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
