**The Role**
The role holder will be responsible for supporting the VP, Client Solutions in all marketing activities for the Japan market. Regardless of whether it pertains to existing businesses (DMTM) or new projects, the individual will engage in a wide range of business development activities, from business planning to execution, with the goal of expanding PLRe's market share in Japan.
Externally, the role holder will take the lead in client management by fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and driving business expansion through these connections.
Internally, they will facilitate collaboration within the team, including Pricing, Underwriting, and Risk teams, ensuring effective communication to provide the best possible proposals for clients.
**Duties**
Contribute to the expansion of PLRe's presence in the Japanese market by supporting the Director.
The role primarily involves the following responsibilities but is not limited to them.
- Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Regularly meet face-to-face with clients to understand their needs.
- Act as the primary contact for assigned clients and, in the absence of the Director of Business Development, serve as the main point of contact for all clients.
- Support the development of the overall client account management strategy.
- Hypothesis Development
- Engage internal and external stakeholders to gain cooperation while understanding PLRe's corporate policies and capabilities.
- Proactively consider solutions that align with both PLRe's and the client's needs.
- Solution Proposal
- Present proposed hypotheses to clients.
- Independently coordinate proposal methods and organizational responses to maximize effectiveness.
- Delivery
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess pricing requests and client inquiries from a technical perspective.
- Manage all pricing estimates for the Japanese market, including scheduling, stakeholder coordination, deliverable management, prioritization, and client communication. Ensure a well-structured, multi-tiered client engagement strategy.
- Verify the accuracy of information provided for pricing, including product specifications, reinsurance arrangements, and underwriting processes.
- Support line managers in risk assessment and prioritization, ensuring compliance with internal risk policies and identifying next steps to progress pricing.
- Carry out project management tasks necessary for efficient delivery beyond the listed responsibilities.
- Portfolio/Treaty Management
- Support in-force monitoring, MI reporting, and data requests.
- Assist in reviewing treaties and addendums.
- Collaboration with Singapore Branch Teams
- Conduct market research when required, such as product benchmarking, population statistics analysis, and in-force portfolio analysis.
- Support the provision of information, both linguistically and technically, for internal assessments of business opportunities, including DMTM campaigns and broader reinsurance opportunities (e.g., capital solutions).
- Facilitate communication between cedants and PLRe Business Services teams to ensure smooth data transmission, bordereaux processing, and account management.
- Support ad-hoc projects as needed.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Able to independently create a schedule and take action to achieve the expected results.
- At least 4 years of working experience in the reinsurance or insurance market in Japan
- Demonstrable success in business development including new business growth and client management
- Strong analytical skills, combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness, to produce justifiable and practical innovative technical advice even where information is sparse or not available. To reasonably balance the needs of customers and the company in the context of decision making and company strategy / business plans
- Strong relationships with insurers in Japan
- Fluent Japanese language capability - spoken and written
- Fluent English language capability - spoken and written
- Strong ability to manage and deliver projects to customers' expectations
- The ability to communicate to technical and complex matters clearly and concisely to people from all backgrounds; both internal and external
- Organised, conscientious, and deadline focused with an attention to detail
- Motivated to take ownership of work and to seek further responsibility
- Strong understanding of risk, able to call out, and address risk issues promptly
