About This Opportunity

The Centre for Health Services Research (CHSR) is one of the five research focussed and institutes and three Schools which comprise the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland. The vision of the CHSR is to “improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health systems and services for those that need them most”. The Centre conducts specialised health research programs, and comprises of globally recognised experts in a wide range of disciplines incorporating ageing and geriatric medicine, kidney medicine, behavioural science, biostatistics, health economics, clinical informatics and telehealth. The Centre undertakes competitively funded research programs and delivers specialised consultancy services to a wide range of both national and international clients.

As Director of the CHSR, you will be responsible for further developing, refining and implementing the academic and operational strategy of the Centre. In setting this strategy, the Director will use the health service research lenses of effectiveness, efficiency and equity to ensure the activities of the CHSR address the needs of the health system. UQ has a rich network of health services research capability both within and outside the CHSR and the Director will work collaboratively within this network to ensure research teams are configured to optimally answer key health services challenges.

The Director of the CHSR, will bring an outstanding track record of research and exceptional leadership skills and experience, and a passion for developing the next generation of medical research professionals. The Director will also engage in their own research of the highest standard which does not necessarily have to align to the current research themes of the CHSR.

As Director, you will play a key role in the development and mentorships of staff and students within the CHSR and will also be expected to make significant contributions to education and professional service.
