The Singapore Translational Cancer Consortium (STCC) is a nationally coordinated consortium to
synergise cancer research capabilities in Singapore. Established in 2020, STCC brings together
unmatched basic, clinical and translational talent in Singapore to create globally significant peaks of
excellence in selected Asian cancers. STCC’s four joint platforms - Clinical Trials and Investigational
Medicine Units, Cancer Databases and Tissue Banks, Translational Research Integration and
Support, and Business Intelligence and Development Unit - provide an enabling research and
innovation environment driven to foster translational research with meaningful outcomes for society.

**What you will be working on**

**The Role**:
The Research Officer will be responsible for the duties and responsibilities listed below:
Perform patient-derived organoid (PDO) culture, co-ordinate with multiple organoid research
groups for collection and propagation of organoids for national level projects.

Establish workflows for organoid collection, organoid culture, molecular characterization and
clinical annotations for collaborative studies.

Perform cellular and molecular assays such as RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR,
Immunofluorescence, H&E staining, High-throughput compound screening, Cytotoxicity
assays, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) etc.

Co-ordinate and arrange meetings with organoid research groups and industry partners.

Collect list of available tumour organoid models in Singapore with annotations, standardized
protocols and SOPs from collaborators.

Support establishing STCC tumour organoid catalogue.

Capable of working in a team to survey scientific literatures, optimize standard protocols,
execute and troubleshoot as seen appropriate.

Strong work ethics, meticulous in study documentation and execution.

Self-motivated, willingness to learn and to collaborate with other team members.

Participate in, and present at research group meetings.

Write technical reports, risk assessments and SOPs.

Comply with laboratory safety procedures and other duties as seen required.

**What we are looking for**

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or other strongly related
scientific discipline.

Experience

Preferably with 1 to 2 years’ experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.

Experience in stem cell culture or organoid culture with good aseptic cell culture techniques
will be a plus.

Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing.

**Skills**:
Fast learner, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver quality work under tight
timelines.

Meticulous with an attention to details.

Team player, good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g. PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
