Operations Specialist - Oil, Singapore

Job Purpose:
Based in Singapore, the Operations Specialist will provide operations support for the growing Oils trade desk on their international oil and oil product flows as well as their expansion of the domestic Indonesian business.
We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude and demonstrated competence in similar fields, and is a perfect development opportunity for a relatively inexperienced but industrious individual to advance their career, gain industry knowledge and operations expertise working with a fast growing oil trading desk.

Key Responsibilities:
Shipping operations- Ensure that all terms / obligations arising from the charter party are carried out and necessary requirements are complied with,
- Preparing of voyage instructions, stowage calculations, and monitoring of vessel movements,
- Monitoring of freight and hire invoices and payments,
- B/L supervision, Letter of Indemnity facilitation
- Laytime calculations
- Update database/systems with shipment details in a timely manner
- Review and provide comments on the logistics/shipping terms of purchase and sales contracts

Cargo Operations- Deal with cargo and freight counter-parties, terminals and vessels on a regular basis regarding all post-deal activities ensuring all necessary operational information is passed on in good time
- Ensuring documentary requirements are met,
- Arrange cargo and vessel nominations,
- Appoint independent inspectors, expeditors and ships agents;
- Preparation & discussion of LC and LOI format with counterparties
- Preparation of company registration with counterparties for future trading
- Preparation weekly cashflow and LC line budgeting and tracking
- Vessel tracking and relationship with surveyor and customs agents to get vessel line ups.

Education and Qualifications:

- Knowledge of L/Cs, ICC, Incoterms & shipping-related matters
- Bachelor degree or higher preferred

**Experience**:

- 1 - 5 years experience in related operations field of banks, commodities industry or international trading corporations (i.e. Bills Department, Traffic or Shipping Department)

**Skills**:

- Good communicator with good English both written and spoken
- Knowledge of Indonesia and / or Bahasa language capability would be a plus
- Person need to be proactive and prepared to work in a dynamic environment with remote teams
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office.
- Good numeracy level essential - Accounting background beneficial

Customer focus:

- Understand and respond appropriately to senior management / front office / counterparty needs
- Works to deliver high quality products & services

Ownership & Accountability:

- Takes ownership of own decisions and actions - both successes and mistakes
- Is reliable and does not need hand-holding to produce good work

Detail orientation:

- Organised and prioritise, methodical and logical
- Excellent attention to detail
