Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Assistant Attorney General (OAAG). OAAG is responsible for the overall management and oversight of OJP at the Department of Justice. This includes setting policy; ensuring that OJP policies and programs reflect the priorities of the President, the Attorney General, and the Congress; and promoting coordination among the OJP offices and bureaus.

Duties

Serves as a Senior Policy Advisor on Community Violence Intervention, reporting to the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
Advises all of the Office of Justice Programs' (OJP's) executive leadership, including program office heads, on issues related to the community violence intervention, with a particular focus on leading the effective implementation of community violence intervention and prevention initiative (CVIPI) programming, including the supplemental CVIPI funds received under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act through FY 2026.
Serves as technical expert, exercising independence and judgment in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with various stakeholders in Tribal, state and local governments, criminal justice stakeholders, and victim service providers to gain a better understanding of their interests and needs and to communicate and disseminate information about OJP funding opportunities, programs, tools and activities.

Exercises a broad degree of independence and applies authoritative judgment in developing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders in the government, private sector, and academic institutions.
Plans, directs and executes liaison operations for critical OJP-wide programs with national implications.
Participates in the development and implementation of national programs and policies related to addressing community violence intervention and related OJP priorities.

Experience developing, implementing, managing, and supporting evaluation of multi-faceted community violence intervention program(s).

**Specialized Experience**:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

**Examples of specialized experience include**:
Has led or currently leads a community violence intervention program, to include experience identifying the drivers of community violence and developing strategies to reach those most likely to become involved in gun violence.
Serves as a technical expert in evaluation of complex justice and community violence intervention program implementation.
Works with researchers and evaluators to inform community violence intervention program enhancements.
Proposes, designs and/or executes outreach strategies targeting existing and/or prospective grantees, facilitating technical assistance and/or coordination on matters concerning community violence intervention.
Fosters and maintains strategic relationships and partnerships, to include facilitating public-facing meetings of a sensitive and complex nature related to community violence intervention initiatives.
